Frontenac Engineering provided the civil/structural engineering for a project that included a feasibility analysis, site master plan, and design of an interpretive/educational center on the 28 acre rural property. We also designed a 16 space parking lot and bus turn-around loop at the College School’s LaBarque Creek Property. Improvements utilized porous concrete pavers for the parking areas and a central rain garden/wildlife pond.
Phase 1 included lower site improvements; a new site entry, drive, bus drop off and parking, pervious parking, a stormwater management, rain garden, and bridge sufficient for fire truck access.
Phase 2 includes the 3,000 sf Learning Center which will include classroom/community space, workshop and restrooms, a 1,800 sf plaza and a 1,350 sf outdoor classroom/pavilion. The anticipated construction cost is $1.4 million.
Previous work for TCS includes: civil engineering for design of low impact, sustainable site improvements including permeable pavements, high albido pavements, rain gardens, natural landscaped areas, down-lighting, zero-irrigation landscaping, and wind turbine. Design of new porous pavement parking area using local, sustainable materials and Stormwater infiltration methods to minimize development costs and infrastructure requirements. Design of wind turbine foundation and teaching greenhouse.
